ATI NEWSLETTER – 2nd Edition

Welcome to the 2nd edition of the newsletter of the IMF’s Africa Training Institute (ATI). As you may be aware, ATI is part of a network of IMF regional training centers around the world, which help develop countries’ policymaking capacity by transferring economic skills and best practices. This 2nd edition of ATI’s newsletter looks back at developments at ATI over the past six months and forthcoming activities. Among other events we look at the ATI Steering Committee Meeting, which took place in March, 2019. We also review some of the courses offered during the 2019 training program.

On the future, we discuss some new ideas that have come out of the Phase II discussions. In particular, we are pleased to announce that, in addition to the regular training program, ATI plans to collaborate with relevant Fund departments to develop training options in global and Fund emerging priorities such as governance and corruption issues, climate change, and gender macroeconomics and gender-budgeting. ATI is also planning to organize meetings for high-level government officials and to call a meeting of all the heads of training departments (Directors) in SSA agencies. This will allow a frank discussion on the impact of training.
